Neues Album von Andrew Collberg erscheint am 14.10.2022
Sounds & Books feiert die Videopremiere zu dem Song „Hollywood Diamond“ von Andrew Collberg. Der Song befindet sich auf dem am 14.10.2022 bei Papercup Records / Rough Trade erscheinenden Album „A Modern Act“. Für sein neues Werk hat der Deutsch-Amerikaner neun im Indie-Folk-Rock beheimatete Songs aufgenommen. Songs, die mal bedächtig und karg von Piano oder der akustischen Gitarre geprägt sind und mal mit Pop-Appeal, Coolness und Lässigkeit wie „Hollywood Diamond“ daherkommen. Erinnert häufig an Kevin Morby, nicht die schlechteste Referenz.
Das sagt Andrew Collberg über das Video
Über die Entstehung des Videos berichtet der 35-jährige, in Köln wohnende Songwriter Folgendes: „Shot entirely on 16mm film by director Fabian Podeszwa, this stop animation video sends you into a world where silent objects come to life. Filmed at the art studio of Emil Adams in the Hafenakademie Köln-Müllheim, Fabian and myself utilized all of the chaos and randomness of Emils studio; trinkets, dolls and all of the infinite bizarre stuff laying around. Frame by frame each object contorts in an uncanny way as they move around ever so slightly and jolt about in jarring unnatural motions.
This video is an abstract collage of sorts, set to a song with a pumping bass drum and glittery undertones. But to me, it’s almost like they are having a secret party; the robot dances the slowest dance ever with colorful strobe lights, the lobster finally comes out of the toilet to join in on the fun and Mr. Rogers dances so hard he ascends into the sky!“
